Our Story

Three Honda hatchbacks parked together on a residential driveway — charcoal EK, champagne EK and Championship White FN2 Type R
Three generations of the family Honda collection, Cape Town.

Built from the inside of these cars.

BridgeSource Auto started because we could not find the parts we needed. Not a business plan — a problem that kept coming back across every car we have owned, built and driven over nearly three decades of genuine Honda ownership.

This is the honest version of how we got here.

Where it started. A Candy Apple Red EF.

Dalmaine's Honda story began around the age of 18 with a 1992 Honda EF DOHC AMG running a D16Z motor. He owned it for approximately six years. The colour turned heads; the engine taught him what Honda engineering actually means when you live with it daily. The car was eventually sold. The connection was not.

The White Ballade. B-Series 180i, properly done.

The EK-generation Ballade came next — white, B-Series 180i swapped, built to be driven rather than displayed. The engine bay told the full story: a clean, purposeful build with neatly routed ancillaries and the kind of care that comes from doing the work yourself. This car ran hard and handled the Cape Town streets on a daily basis.

Champagne B16. OEM discipline.

Not every Honda needs to announce itself. The champagne EK Civic — B16 VTEC, kept close to original specification — demonstrated something equally important: that stock Honda engineering, properly maintained, is genuinely good. It ran without drama and was used exactly as intended.

The CRX. Where things got serious.

The Honda CRX was where the builds crossed into a different category. A B20 VTEC setup built properly from the block up: lightened and balanced bottom end, Wiseco pistons, Eagle rods and block guard, gas-flowed and ported head, Skunk2 Stage 2 cams and verniers, Skunk2 intake and throttle body, 63–76mm exhaust, original 16-inch JDM Spoon wheels and semi-slicks. Standard ECU with Uni-Q management. This was not a trailer queen. Every component on it earned its place.

The Accord 2.4 Type S. Honda's bigger picture.

The Honda Accord 2.4 Type S represented a different side of the Honda range. The K-series engine is a capable platform, and the car proved that Honda's engineering principles scale across the lineup. It went through several workshops before departure. Every one of them confirmed the same thing: good bones, demanding of the right parts.

Honda — The Power of Dreams. A family chapter.

The CR-V 2.4 joined the collection as a practical family vehicle. It ran reliably, covered significant distance and reinforced something consistent across every Honda owned: the platform rewards proper maintenance and the right parts. It has since been sold, but it is part of the record.

Championship White FN2 Type R. The current benchmark.

The Civic Type R FN2 in Championship White is where the family fleet sits today at the top of Dalmaine's ownership history. Factory K20Z4, factory close-ratio six-speed, factory intentions. It is not being modified. The point of a Type R is that Honda already did the work. Owning one makes the parts knowledge sharper — you understand what the platform is capable of from the factory, and what it genuinely needs to stay there.

Caleb's charcoal EK. The next chapter is already running.

Caleb owns his own Honda B20 VTEC setup, with a 63 mm exhaust, cold-air intake, Uni-Q management and I-Drive. The car was built by Performance Den and tuned by Mase. It already has a good few modifications, with great ambitions for further development in the future.

A wider Honda family.

The cars above are the chapters we can document. Around them is a wider family archive of Hondas that passed through — bought, sold, borrowed, worked on and occasionally rescued. Each one added something to the combined knowledge that BridgeSource Auto draws on when confirming fitment and sourcing parts today.

Why BridgeSource Auto exists.

Years of owning, building and discussing these cars with mechanics, other owners and community members kept surfacing the same problem. Suspension bushes, gearbox synchros, hubs, sliders and other internals were either unavailable locally, hard to source with confirmed fitment, or priced in a way that did not make sense for the South African market.

BridgeSource Auto was built around that problem — not as a workshop or a dealer, but as a sourcing operation that applies careful fitment checks and supplier verification before anything is offered. South Africa already has skilled Honda mechanics, experienced builders and a genuine community of owners who know these cars well. We are not here to replace any of them. We are here to find what they cannot.
